I left for the Ricoh last night fully intent on diving into the Cash Games for the first time this year. Within minutes of entering the casino, I was easily swayed by my girlfriend and found myself walking towards the tournament floor with my entry ticket in hand, ready to play the Redtooth Poker Joker’s Wild event!

As I approached my allocated seat, I had to double-check that I had the right tournament – It felt like Redtooth had gone mild!

Recognising a few faces, I jumped into the action and set about opening as many hands as I could get away with. This went largely unnoticed, despite showing most of my hands.
The game stayed fairly tame for the first hour or so and I couldn’t help but feel that the deck could have done with another joker – the game needed shaking up! Unfortunately, that was not a view shared by some of my opponents…

“I really thought having a joker in the pack would make the game more fun, but I’m not keen…”
“Yeah, me too… It’s just silly. There’s no point in playing if you don’t have the joker.”

Players came and went then seemingly out of nowhere… THE GAME GOT GOOD!
Drinks + chat + players over/under adapting to the joker being in play changed the game completely!

My opponent tanked for a good minute and a half before calling with 22..!

This game had a taken a full 180 degree turn from the game I had bought in for just a few hours earlier. It was the kind of game that you’d expect from Redtooth. I would certainly play more of their events if they were to be as much fun as this one. I will definitely be playing this event next year!

I’m afraid that’s all from me today as I’ve got to get ready to play DAY 1C of the GOLIATH! After enjoying last night’s game so much, I’m super excited for play to begin today. Fingers crossed I can make Day 2!
